12/01/2005: "Bomb-ed monologue"

Today, I totally bombed my monologue in acting class. I had the line all memorized and I got up there and did it. Then my teacher told me all these things about the play that I didn't know. Then he told me how he wanted me to play the monologue. That's like asking someone to perfom an entirely different scene right there on the spot. You rehearse and memorize it one way, with certain emotions, and someone tells you to do it differently and it's a different scene. I tried several times and finally I just started crying. I must have looked like the biggest moron up there, on stage...crying. I don't give an eff about my monologue but I hate crying in front of people. And being on stage, that makes it worse.

Aww... I'm sorry you didn't do well on your monologue. It was kind of unfair for your teacher to ask you to repeat it the way HE wanted. Of course, teachers are really good at messing you up to see if you REALLY know what you're doing. *lol* I know it was upsetting but don't let it get you down. You'll do better next time. smile

I know exactly what you mean. When you're doing something you love and you're having an off day and your instructor/coach/authority/figure/whatever just won't cut you a break. my soccer coach actually made me cry in front of the whole team last week =/. but the next day everyone had forgotten about it. and i was back to my usual self. i hope you can see the relevance even though it's a completely different situation =p. everyone will forget. and you'll do fine next time. :]

Aw, that sucks. Crying in public always makes me feel the absolute worst, especially if I tried my hardest at something and couldn't do it. But don't worry. You'll get it and do a damn good job at it, too smile
